Sirocco Spartacus at the North Island Stallion Parade in 2014

Sirocco Spartacus

Breeding: ½ Clydesdale, ½ Thoroughbred

Born: 1-November-1997

Sire: Glendevon Commander (Clydesdale)

Dam: Bundy Bid (Thoroughbred)

Height: 16'2

Sirocco Spartacus moved from Sirocco Lodge to join us at Morewynstowe Stud in January 2010.

Spartacus is the half brother of NZ Madison, who was also bred by Sirocco Lodge. She was ridden by Guy Thomas in the 2004 Olympic Show Jumping team in Athens. If it weren't for one bad round she would have reached the final round which really shows her class. Athens Olympics Individual Showjumping Results

His progeny has also shown a real ability to jump with several of his stock being sold to Japan where they are competing at a high level

His oldest progeny in New Zealand is Sirocco El Cid who competed at the 2010 Horse of the Year in the Future Rising Stars show class.

Both Sirocco Prada and Sirocco Sisco are currently successfully competing in the Japanese Show Jumping Circuit to 1.3m and both are showing a good tight jumping technique.

In another discipline Sirocco Spice has started a career in Dressage and has already won Level 1 Champion at the Wairarapa Autumn Series in 2014.

Spartacus is a well mannered gentleman which comes through on his progeny making them a pleasure to handle and train.

While his specialty is Show Jumping he is also able to move which he loves to show off when he's put out in a new paddock. He might be a Clydesdale cross but don't tell him that. He reaches forward in the trot really well rather than the typical Clyde trot. While he is ½ Clyde he's a very light type of Clydesdale and this too is passed on.

We will be standing this wonderful stallion at our stud in Pukeatua in the Waikato and offering his services either through natural service or through AI. Feel free to call us if you want to discuss a service with this wonderful stallion.

Cascade being worked in Cambridge

Morewynstowe Cascade

Breeding: Classified NZ Warmblood Stallion

Born: November 2009

Sire: Royston Rockstar

Dam: Tessa Dream

Height: 16'3

NZWB Classification Score: 77.82%

The top NZ bred stallion of the 2017 classification tour was Morewynstowe Cascade, earning his NZWB stallion licence from German Classifier, Matthias Werner.

He was ranked in the top 3 stallions in the tour (almost scoring a merit with 77.82%).

Matthias said “He is a superb example of a modern warmblood, with a very noble expression.”

The Sire Line

His sire Rockstar combines some of the best genetics in Europe includingRubenstein, Rohdiamant, Weltmeyer and Florestan.

His grandsire, Real Diamond, topped his licencing for dressage capabilities and rideability. He had the top breeding value in 2010 at 173, with 25% of his first crop becoming Elite. Not even Sir Donnerhill can claim this.

The strong breeding influence from both the R  line on his sire’s side, and the F line from the sire’s dam show through in Cascade’s swing, movement and trainability.

His Dam Line

His dam Tessa Dream II, through her dam line is rich in old jumping bloodlines including Battle-Waggon and Silver Dream, prevalent in many eventers and show jumpers.

The sire line, Festal, goes back to Court Martial which is also prevalent in top showjumping breeding. The Festal horses are all good looking with excellent conformation, and presence.

Until injury forced her to retire, Tessa Dream won every competition she ever competed in, both in dressage and eventing. She has amazing paces, and was extremely balanced, even as a young horse.

Tessa Dream’s progeny have all displayed exceptional movement and jumping ability, and have been sold overseas as showjumpers.

Lightness, Power, Athleticism, with Trainability

Morewynstowe Cascade displays huge swing and elasticity, scoring an 8, and has excellent paces, with his trot active and supple. His canter is uphill with good impulsion from the hind leg, showing the Weltmeyer power.

He is very rideable, with a great temperament, being a pleasure to take out, showing traits of his great grandsire Rohdiamant.

He was the Reserve Champion Sporthorse at The Auckland Royal Easter Show as a foal. Unfortunately a severe paddock accident as a yearling prevented him being competed as a young horse, but as his movement scores have shown he has now fully recovered from this injury.

His progeny show superb temperament and expressive movement being a pleasure to work with.

Morewynstowe Cascade will enhance any breeding program combining lightness, power, athleticism, with trainability.
