Morewynstowe Cascade now an approved NZ Warmblood Stallion

We are proud to announce that Morewynstowe Cascade has passed his NZWB stallion classification with a great score of 77.82% narrowly missing out on a merit pass.

The German classifier Matthias Warner described him as a great example of a modern warmblood with elastic and elevated movements.

He will continue to be available this season for a service fee of $1000 including GST.

Season updates - Feb

It's been another busy season here with lots of updates.

Most recently Kaishi and Titania had another good outing at Morrinsville placing in every class we entered with 10 ribbons for the day.

Suitability for Dressage - Kaishi 4th
Suitability for Show Hacking - Kaishi 1st, Titania 4th
Suitability for Eventing - Titania 4th

We also did well at the Helensville A&P show being in the placings consistently.

Te Puke and Rotorua were also extremely good outing with the horses being awarded champion ribbons.

Going further back Titania won the Supreme champion Saddle Hunter at the North Island In Hand All Breeds Show in January with Kaishi being the Reserve Junior Champion. Titania also won the Junior Reserve  Champion Sport Horse at the same event.

We now have just the Auckland East Show left in the season with all three show horses plus a new entrant with Daktari being entered in the foal class.

Kaishi has now been broken in and is going kindly so she will likely be focusing on the ridden classes in the coming season.

Cascade has been put back into some serious work and we are aiming to have him competing in the Winter Dressage Series starting in May.

Finally we will have a stand at the Horse of the Year next week so we'd love it if you pop in to see us there in the breeding area.

Cambridge Stallion Parade

We had a great day at the Cambridge stallion parade on Sunday. The horses looked amazing and with lots of people coming to see them.

Looking forwards to more Spartie foals in the future.

We're in the process of posting all the photos to the web site so check back soon.

Update for the season

We've been really pleased with the success our youngsters have shown this year with all youngsters that have been taken out having been placed, including in their first events.

Our outstanding performers have been

Judges comments have been that our young stock are very correct and are showing great paces as well as being very athletic.

We are now busy getting ready for the new season. We will be at the Cambridge Stallion parade so hope to see you there.

Rotorua A&P Show 2014

Another successful day for Titania and Kaishi despite the wet weather.

Together they came away with 6 placings.

Despite Titania totally losing his feet in the wet grass he recovered well to complete the class.

We also heard in the background that it was a successful day out for Sirocco Tango so congratulations to Megan Joustra on her performance in the Show Hunter sections.

Te Kauwhata Show 2013

We had a great day at the Te Kauwhata show with our Spartie yearling Titania winning the Supreme horse ribbon.

The judge was obviously taken with this young colt saying that he couldn't find any fault in his conformation. Very high praise indeed.

Next up is the Paeroa show in January so lots of time to prepare. Now we just need to decide who to take....

Show Updates

We had a really successful day showing young ones at the Cambridge A&P show last weekend. It was a long day with so many young ones competing for the first time. In fact for most of them it was the first time off the property!!!!

Next up is the Te Kauwhata A&P show on the 14th December. We just have Titania and Kaishi going to this show as there is no broodmare or foal classes so we should be a little more relaxed this time around.

Pop in and see us if you're at the show in our big red horse truck.

Social Media Changes

With all the foal photos at the moment we thought it might be a good time to open an Instagram account. http://www.morewynstowe.co.nz/instagram will show the 20 latest images or http://instagram.com/morewynstowestud# will take you directly to our Instagram page.

You my also have noticed that we have links to all of our social networks at the bottom of most of our web pages. This includes Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and Instagram.

Let us know what you think and it would be great if you could like, follow, or +1 us on your preferred social platform.

Yards get an upgrade

Our yards have just had a major upgrade with the lower level now having a covered walkway. This will mean that the lower yards will now be almost entirely dry when it rains.

We're still to put up a wall on the walkway as some of the horses like training for an advanced event course by jumping down the retaining walls when let out. (It's only about a 3m drop so they think it's no big deal.) Once finished it should be nice and warm as well.

Video of the Breaking in Process

We imagine that there are quite a few people that haven't seen a horse being broken in, so we thought we'd get some video of some of the parts that aren't so well known.

This video is of Morewynstowe Cascade being driven on the arena.

Hope you like it and let us know what you think.

Youngsters getting broken in

Both Shilo & Cascade are presently being broken in, and both are very accepting and showing a willingness to work. We are excited by Cascade and hope he will continue to show the excellent paces from his sire. He has an amazing temperament for a 3yr colt.

Diane Norton joins the team

Di will be involved in breaking in and training the younger ones as well as schooling.

With her help we're aiming to have a good group of horses ready to go out competing soon.

We're also going to be going through and updating photos on the web site so expect to see lots changing.

How you grade an Arena

The sand on the arena was a little deep in areas so we've had to shift it around a little.

Since we don't have a leveling bar this became a little harder.

Solution found though...

Another year another web site redesign

We've just moved to another web site provider so the web site will look a little different. This time we've got lots of social plug ins so you might notice changes on our facebook and twitter account as well as being able to make comments on most things.

It should all look much nicer on mobiles and tablets as well.

Let us know what you think.

23rd October 2012 - First Foal of 2012

Foaling season is now underway with our first foal born on the morning of 22nd October. Morewynstowe Callisto is by Sirocco Spartacus out of Lola (Brilliant Invader bloodlines) She's very leggie so will be a big foal to follow after Morewynstowe Kaishi.

25th October 2011 - Changes at Morewynstowe

You might have noticed a few changes to our web site just recently as we've just moved to another provider. Hopefully this will mean we get updates out more regularly now.

We've had our first 2 foals of the season. Persia had a lovely filly on 5th October with Tiffany Case having a little colt on 20th October. Persia's foal in particular is just a stunning girl.

This is just the start of our breeding season so still more babies to come and we're already into serving mares so contact us if you would like a service from Spartacus.
